Release!

Skyboxer v0.1 is out!
Skyboxer turns almost any photo into a skybox you can drop straight into your game. Drop in a landscape picture, click "Auto adjust", and export a ZIP with the six cubemap faces, an equirectangular panorama and a cross layout. It works with Unity, Unreal, Godot, Blender, Three.js and more.
I made it because getting a decent skybox from a single photo is usually a pain. Seams show up, the horizon is crooked, and the edges look stretched or mirrored. So Skyboxer tries to take care of that for you:
- Auto adjust: picks the field of view (from EXIF when it's there), straightens a tilted horizon and fixes vignetting.
- Soft surroundings: whatever the photo doesn't cover gets filled with a soft, hazy sky instead of a mirrored copy.
- Seamless edges: the 360° seam and the poles are cleaned up, with an option to turn the protection off.
- Extras: color correction, fog, stars, sun and moon, a clone brush for fixing spots, plus pixelation and dithering for a retro look.
- Undo / redo (Ctrl+Z) for pretty much everything.
- Available in 9 languages.
It runs completely on your PC. Nothing gets uploaded. Just extract the ZIP and double-click Skyboxer.exe (Windows 10/11, and it needs Edge or Chrome installed).
This is a first versin, so there are rough edges. The face orientation for some engines hasn't been tested inside each one yet, and the .exe isn't signed, so Windows might show a SmartScreen warning ("More info" > "Run anyway").
If something breaks or you have an idea, please leave a comment. Thanks for trying it out!
